The inaugural SDG Report of the Messe Frankfurt Texpertise Network is currently available to the public. In the framework of its international textile trade fairs, the study summarises Messe Frankfurt’s global commitment to attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and offers an outlook on next planned initiatives and objectives. The SDG Report also encourages the Texpertise Network to stay committed to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals by the year 2030.

At a meeting in New York City, Kerry Bannigan, Executive Director of the Fashion Impact Fund and Co-Founder of the United Nations Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network, and Lucie Brigham, Chief of Office, the United Nations, received the recently released Texpertise SDG Report from Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles and Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt. co-founder of the United Nations Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network, and office for partnerships. “It gives me great pleasure to present Kerry and Lucie with our SDG Report in person. We are informing and mobilising participants across the entire textile value-added chain and their partners in industry to help this decade of action for the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, with a focus on realising solutions for social, economic, and ecological transformation.

The Texpertise Network at Messe Frankfurt brings together current themes, trends, and events related to the textile industry and links more than 500,000 people worldwide. Messe Frankfurt is the market leader for textile trade exhibitions with more than 50 international events in 11 nations. The entire textile value chain is covered by texpertise.

Messe Frankfurt is a pioneer in this field because for the past 15 years, it has systematically included sustainability into its textile events around the world utilising topic-specific formats and content. The United Nations Office for Partnerships and the Fashion Impact Fund’s joint initiative, the United Nations Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network, along with Messe Frankfurt’s Texpertise Network have been promoting the visualisation of the Sustainable Development Goals at their events since 2019. Collaboration is crucial. Lucie Brigham affirms, “We are committed to creating transformative sectoral interaction and speeding the implementation of the SDGs. The only way to mobilise knowledge, creativity, technology, and resources is through effective partnerships. One of the founding members and important partners of the Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network was the Texpertise Network of Messe Frankfurt. We are happy to have been a part of the extensive SDG initiatives from the start and anticipate expanding them jointly in the future.By 2023, the Texpertise Network will have touched more than 21,000 exhibitors, about 508,000 trade visitors, about 6,250 authorised media representatives, and more than 945,000 social media followers globally through its SDG efforts in eight countries. Podcasts, panel discussions, press conferences with UN members, and SDG actions were among the SDG actions. social media campaigns, photo walls and information booths, as well as a hackathon.

Texpertise, the network for textile companies

All important parties who can increase the sustainability of the textile and apparel sector and its related industries are represented in the Texpertise Network. Texpertise provides several options for action in incorporating the subject of sustainability at its international events thanks to its distinctive reach.
