A new program called Woolmark+ has been unveiled by Woolmark with the goal of uniting brands, the supply chain, and woolgrowers to ensure the wool industry has a sustainable future. The goals of Woolmark+ are to increase the rate of low-impact production, encourage circular practices, and enhance the lives of woolgrowers and animals.

The effort provides 13 doable initiatives that can help restore nature, reduce carbon emissions, and increase productivity. In addition to assisting woolgrowers in achieving their commercial objectives, this strategy supports brands’ expanding initiatives to lower Scope 3 emissions and improve supply chain sustainability. Woolmark highlights the wider advantages of wool production for the environment and livelihoods by eschewing a narrow focus on carbon reduction and instead aiming for a nature-positive approach.

“With over 60 years of experience, Woolmark understands the complexities of the textile industry and is committed to its success by aligning economic growth with positive ecological and social impacts,” said John Roberts, Managing Director of The Woolmark Company. Australian woolgrowers may be crucial to the world’s transition to a low-emission, environmentally friendly market by overseeing more than 65 million hectares of land.In order to highlight the wool industry’s contribution to biodiversity and go beyond net zero aims, their dedication to the environment must be acknowledged and encouraged.”

The Woolmark+ roadmap not only encourages environmental stewardship but also a holistic, nature-positive approach by creating supply chain initiatives that increase circularity and guarantee the continued need for wool.
