China’s Cotton Day Celebrates Innovation Quality & Sustainability

With the subject “Your Partner for Prosperity,” Cotton Council International (CCI) hosted COTTON DAY 2022 CHINA, a virtual event that was attended by over 300 textile mills, brands and retailers, trade media, and industry groups. The American cotton industry’s unwavering dedication to sustainability, innovation, and quality was demonstrated by CCI.

Participants anticipate buying 439,916 bales of U.S. cotton as a result of attending, and 18 businesses said they would like further information about joining the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol. The American cotton sector is eager to forge closer links with all Chinese stakeholders in order to advance ongoing sustainability advancements and provide mutually beneficial prospects in the future.

In his welcome address, CCI President Carlos Garcia stated that the pandemic has created difficulties for the global cotton industry supply chain and that the American cotton business is grateful for its recent collaboration with the Chinese textile sector. In order to provide brands and retailers with quantifiable and measurable sustainability goals, other speakers outlined how American cotton farmers are dedicated to sustainable cotton production. They also aim to reduce water usage, greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption, and soil loss. Additionally, they want to improve land use efficiency and increase soil carbon.
