The Indian Textile Accessories & Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (ITAMMA) held its fifth webinar to improve the development of the Capital Goods Sector in the Textile Industry. This webinar was made possible by funding from the Ministry of Heavy Industry. The event took place on January 29, 2024, and included experts discussing the growth of the Capital Goods Sector. The session was moderated by Ms. Shangrila A. Sharma, who introduced the panel of speakers.

The event began with the moderator introducing the proceedings and inviting Mr. Nimesh Shah, President of ITAMMA, to give his welcome address. However, since Mr Shah could not do so, he asked Mr ND Mhatre to welcome the speakers and attendees. A brief overview of the speakers and their diverse topics, covering a wide range of subjects, was then provided. These topics included Technological Developments at Moksha Thermoplastics Pvt Ltd, Technological Developments at Embee Corporation, the Smart Data Clinic, and MHI schemes for sustaining the development of the Capital Goods Sector within the Textile Industry.
Technological Developments at Moksha Thermoplastics Pvt Ltd in the Textile Capital Goods Sector- Mr Anil Yadav-Technical, Marketing & Development, Ahmedabad, Gujarat
During his presentation, Mr Yadav delved into capital goods within the textile industry, showcasing a typical image of a spinning bobbin. He provided insights into his family business, Moksha Thermoplastics, established in 1954, renowned for manufacturing a diverse range of products, including rolling bobbins, yarn dyeing products, simplex bobbins, and roving bobbins, among others. He highlighted significant milestones such as the production of Shin Line Tubes in 2016 and the CANs project initiated in 2022, with plans for backward integration set to hit markets by 2024.
Furthermore, Mr Yadav elaborated on the evolution of spinning frame/roving/flyer bobbins, distinguishing between ancient, conventional, and engineered variations. While ancient bobbins were traditionally crafted from wood, paper, or polypropylene, conventional ones were made from ABS, and engineered bobbins utilised impact-modified ABS with additional modifications. He provided a comprehensive overview of the transformative journey of various manufacturing accessories within the textile capital goods sector, illustrating the continuous improvements and enhancements achieved over the years.
Technological Developments at the Embee Corporation – Mr. Manan Shah, MD, Embee Corporation, Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Mr. Manan Shah extensively discussed the advancement of sustainable machines tailored to customer satisfaction and environmental preservation. Specifically, he highlighted the manufacturing of the stripping machine, with the latest addition being the utilisation of laser technology, which not only preserves colours but also minimises environmental hazards. In contrast to the previous method involving toxic chemicals, which posed risks to workers and the environment, Embee Corporation innovatively introduced a laser source that efficiently burns out the photo emulsion, emitting no smoke or odour and leaving behind no ash residue.
This breakthrough solution significantly extended the screen life, reducing costs, labour, and effort. Embee Corporation strategically employed cutting-edge technology in countries such as India, Mexico, South America, and Turkey, ensuring widespread accessibility to these advanced machines and solutions through online platforms, thereby minimising machine downtime. These technological advancements and solutions demonstrated a commitment to customer satisfaction and upheld the vision, mission, and values of the Embee group.
Updation on ITAMMA-SAMBUQ Digital Enabler Platform & SMART DATA Clinic- Mr. Mehul Goswami, Director/Digital Business Enabler, Sambuq.com India Pvt Ltd.
Mr Mehul emphasised the significance of digitalisation and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative, which is transforming India’s technological landscape. He outlined the nine pillars of Digital India, including Digital Infrastructure, Digital Information Technology, and Digital Payments. The transformative impact of digital payments was highlighted, with their widespread adoption and scale reshaping the nation’s payment landscape. Notable statistics from 2019 included 560 million internet subscriptions, 294 million social media users, and 200 million WhatsApp subscribers, showcasing the broad penetration of digital technologies in India.
Additionally, Mr Mehul discussed the Smart Data Clinic, a comprehensive information-sharing and market research platform benefiting ITAMMA members and its ecosystem. This centralised platform offers features like a knowledge portal and virtual learning hub, enabling business networking opportunities and serving as a digital marketplace for affiliates and members. Moreover, he emphasised the platform’s collaboration with the government on schemes and grants, highlighting its role in fostering a collaborative and supportive technological advancement and growth ecosystem.
MHI Schemes for the Development of Capital Goods Sector of Textile Industry– Mr N. D. Mhatre, Director General (Tech), ITAMMA
Mr Mhatre discussed the MHI schemes for the capital goods sector, noting that 83% of spare parts and accessories for this sector are currently imported, demonstrating advanced technology. He highlighted the availability of these schemes to industrialists aiming to upgrade their manufacturing processes. He specifically addressed subsectors such as heavy electrical equipment, textile machinery, plastic machinery, printing machinery, machine tools industry, and metallurgical machinery, mentioning the schemes available to improve the capital goods sector.
Mr Mhatre discussed the backward and forward integration schemes in the machine tools sector, which are divided into research and development, green engineering, and IT application and development centres. He emphasised the importance of utilising funds like the Technology Acquisition Fund and Technology Updation Funds available on the ITAMMA website for sector development. Mr Mhatre also highlighted ITAMMA’s commitment to public-private partnerships through initiatives like Vocal for Local and Atma Nirbhar Bharat. He mentioned the presence of advanced centres of excellence and the availability of funds for joint ventures, which support the textile industry and encourage innovation and collaboration within the sector.
