To integrate its cutting-edge brewed protein fibers, the Japanese biotechnology business Spiber has forged strategic alliances with well-known Italian mills Marzotto, Filatura Papi Fabio, and RD Gruppo Florence.
Spiber created Brewed Protein, which is made from plant-based biomass like sugar cane and farm waste. The company produces polymers that can be transformed into different types of textiles using a patented fermentation process.
“We are proud of this ambitious partnership that confirms Marzotto’s attitude and commitment to sustainability: the real, tangible, and certified kind,” stated Giorgio Todesco, CEO of Marzotto Wool Manufacturing. Since wool and other natural, valuable materials have always been our main focus, we thought it was intriguing to support Spiber Inc.’s endeavor. This is an advancement in the narrative of an ancient art form in a modern, notably sustainable approach by fusing technical study with tradition and textile art.”
Through these partnerships, Spiber’s sustainable technology will be utilized to provide the textile sector with an environmentally beneficial substitute for conventional materials.
