The export information for the period of July- April of 2021-22 fiscal year has been released. I am writing to share with you the latest export data for the mentioned period. Please find the datasheet in the attachment for your information.
As per the statistics, the RMG export of Bangladesh reached USD 35.36 billion in 10 months, that is during July- April of FY2021-22. Growth during the period is recorded 35.98% compared to the same period of the previous year.
A category-wise disaggregated analysis shows that the export of knitwear fetched USD 19.24 billion, while woven garment export fetched US$ 16.11 billion, registering 37.49% and 34.23% year-over-year growth respectively. If we analyze the single month (April 2022) data, country’s RMG export grew by 56.31% and reached USD 3.93 billion, which was USD 2.52 billion in April 2021.
Though export statistics still show a rising trend, there are challenges as we all know. Moreover, the prolonged Russia-Ukraine conflict is causing fuel and food price hike, on the other hand, the risk of the economic recessions is increasing in the west. It is feared that soaring inflation all over the world may affect the demand for consumer goods including fashion items in the international market. These are certainly concerning for us. So, let us be more vigilant about global developments while keep striving on improving efficiency and competitiveness.
