Turkey has created a Sustainability Action Plan for its textile sector, with the goal of increasing worldwide market share while decreasing environmental impact.
The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) and the Textile and Raw Materials Exporters Associations (ITHIB) are driving the effort, which aims to connect Turkey’s textile sector with the European Green Deal.
The Turkish Textile Industry TIM has launched a new action plan to improve its sustainability credentials. The plan includes wastewater recovery, energy efficiency and recycling as well as expanding technologies that use less water in washing and dyeing. Turkey’s textile sector is one of the main focuses of the European Green Deal, a €1 trillion sustainable investment plan by the European Commission to create ‘climate neutral Europe’ by 2050.
