JBS Couros has announced the release of JBS V-Block technology, which inactivates the SARS-Cov-2 virus, which is the source of Covid-19. During the manufacturing step, a silver microparticle addition is applied to the leather coating to provide antiviral properties.
JBS Couros has created a new form of leather that is capable of inactivating the SARS-Cov-2 virus. In tests conducted at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of the University of So Paulo’s level 3 biosafety laboratory (NB3), the material demonstrated 99 percent virus inactivation after 30 minutes of contact with viral particles. The technique enhances silver’s contact surface and prominence in the leather, allowing for antiviral activity.
