Interloop Utilizes Apparel Expertise to Accelerate Denim Expansion

Interloop is one of the world’s largest hosiery producers, manufacturing 700 million pairs of socks and tights each year. In 2018, the firm expanded into denim by building a denim factory from the ground up using industry best practises. Pakistan is a major denim provider owing to its cotton-based agriculture and overall denim style innovation.
Pakistan is the world’s top exporter of denim fabric, particularly cotton-rich denim. The country’s denim industry was particularly badly impacted by the Covid-19 epidemic, but it is now making a recovery. Interloop has expanded its global network with denim factories in Pakistan, North America, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, Japan, and China.
Interloop’s denim plant is one of the largest clothing production facilities to be awarded LEED Platinum certification. The 600,000-square-foot plant was designed from the bottom up with innovative measures and built-in sustainability technologies. In addition, the company prioritises people in its denim business, extending its tradition of fair salaries and recruiting permanent rather than temporary employees.
Denim is a “totally different beast” for Interloop than hosiery. The firm employs a finishing system outfitted with robots and lasers, which eliminates the need for people and so increases productivity and safety.
Interloop has already begun to exercise its denim muscles with major brands such as Mustang, Diesel, Guess, and NYDJ. It is presently working on the newest Guess Jeans Redesign line, which incorporates denim manufactured in accordance with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation’s circularity standards.
