Apparel manufacturing industry in Tirupur has again requested the State Government for some relaxations to operate the industry with available workforce.

The Tirupur apparel industry faced full lockdown and work was badly impacted. Just a few days back permission was given for the functioning of exports units with 10 per cent of employees which is not sufficient at all.

Running the manufacturing units with such low workforce is very difficult, especially for MSMEs.

Raja M. Shanmugham, President, Tirupur Exporters’ Association (TEA) has sent a requisition letter to M.K. Stalin, Chief Minister and Dr. V. Irai Anbu, Chief Secretary asking for relaxation to operate the industry with available workforce and commence the production and exports.

Earlier also, various trade bodies of the state raised their concern in this regard.
