AMSTERDAM – The Laudes Foundation, the Good Fashion Fund, and the Fashion for Good fund, which is run by FOUNT, have invested in K.K.P. Fine Linen Private Limited (“KKPFL”), a well-known producer and exporter of bed linens and cosmetics from Namakkal, India. K.K.P.’s investment in installing an effluent treatment plant (ETP) in their future wet processing unit in SIPCOT, Perundurai, Tamil Nadu, will be supported by the 2.0 million US dollar loan.
The investment in K.K.P Fine Linen will be towards the installation of a state-of-the-art biological effluent treatment plant (ETP) with a Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system. The ETP will be part of the newly acquired griege fabric process unit in SIPCOT (Perundurai) with an installed capacity of 100,000 meters per day. The workers will be hired majorly from local communities, while gender and community development activities will be undertaken by the company alongside broader environmental and social sustainability initiatives.
By backward integrating the processing activities, enhancing manufacturing efficiency, and expanding their income potential, KKPFL is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing popularity of India as a home textiles market for both domestic and foreign brands. By having complete control over its products, which are made in accordance with the strictest sustainability standards and legal regulations, the company would be able to satisfy the needs of its clients.
According to strict local pollution control regulations, the ETP (and the processing unit) should show positive savings, particularly in the areas of chemical consumption, freshwater usage, and material waste reduction. In addition, KKPFL (and KKP Group) benefits from 100% renewable energy sourced from wind and solar, with their in-house plant providing about 40 megawatts of that total.
