In a significant move to boost the state’s textile industry and reduce dependence on foreign imports, the Yogi Adityanath government is set to establish 11 private textile parks across Uttar Pradesh. private textile parks The first of these parks will be developed in the Shamli district, with an investment of Rs 726 crore.
Aiming for Self-Reliance: The initiative is aimed at reducing the state’s reliance on other states and countries like China for raw materials. By establishing these parks, the government aims to stimulate local production and create employment opportunities.
Strategic Locations: Out of the 11 proposed parks, six will be located in key textile hubs: Gorakhpur, Mau, Bhadohi, Aligarh, Baghpat, and Shamli. Additionally, a PM Mitra Park is planned for Lucknow, spanning 1,000 acres.
Government Support: Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary of Handloom and Textiles, emphasised the potential of these parks to revolutionise the state’s textile industry. He stated that the establishment of these parks will not only boost local production but also reduce reliance on China for raw materials.
Lonex Textile Park: Under the Uttar Pradesh Textile and Garmenting Policy-2022, the Government Approval Committee, headed by Alok Kumar, has granted in-principle approval to Lonex Textile Park Private Limited for the development of the Shamli Park. The investor is committed to investing approximately Rs 126.61 crore in developing the necessary infrastructure.
Job Creation and Economic Growth: The park is expected to be fully operational by December 2025, generating direct and indirect employment for around 5,000 individuals. Spread across 26.75 acres in Jhinjhana village, Kairana tehsil, the park will house 17 production units, including weaving, dyeing, printing, and garmenting facilities. It will also feature essential amenities such as an administrative building, bank/ATM, and a training and testing centre.
