Packaging manufacturers may now use HEIDELBERG’s equipment to directly apply Solenis’ barrier coatings during the flexographic printing process thanks to this partnership. These coatings enhance product performance and production efficiency by providing protection against liquids, oils, and moisture.
The coatings offered by Solenis have a broad range of uses, such as cupstock, board materials, flexible packaging, and industrial shipping containers. Packaging manufacturers can replace paraffin wax and standard polyethylene (PE) lamination with print-applied barrier coatings, increasing the recyclable nature of packaging. The coatings can be applied to both hot and cold cups using current equipment for cupstock production, removing the need for PE lamination and increasing production speed.
This collaboration meets the growing need for environmentally friendly packaging options that improve barrier efficacy without using as much plastic. The eco-friendly and PFAS-free coatings from Solenis provide packaging producers with an affordable option.
