The Telangana government’s decision to allow all stores and establishments in the state to stay open till 1:00 AM has been hailed by the Retailers’ Association of India as an ease of doing business (EoDB)-enabling policy. In addition to giving customers choice and convenience, this move will generate more jobs.
The Telangana government has stated that all businesses—aside from liquor stores—will stay open until one in the morning. Additionally, the government has affirmed that it will permit eateries to operate their delivery and takeout services around-the-clock.
The CEO of the Retailers Association of India (RAI), Kumar Rajagopalan, commented on this development, saying that “extended hours of operation are a win-win situation for consumers, businesses, and the government.” Customers can now shop whenever it’s convenient for them thanks to this step. Additionally, it will increase tourism in the State and support job growth. This is a very smart strategy, especially for the food and beverage sector. The state’s restaurants will become livelier as a result. A thriving retail scene is essential to the expansion of the economy. We hope that the government will soon let all businesses to operate year-round, 24 hours a day.
A delegation from the Retailers Association of India (RAI) met with the Telangana government on several occasions to discuss implementing the State Government’s announcement last year on the opening of 24X7 stores. It was emphasized that even though the round-the-clock notice was successful, the local police department failed to acknowledge it and requested that the company cease operations early.
In order to facilitate ease of doing business, the Retailers Association of India (RAI) has been collaborating with state governments. It has also been pursuing various departments to adopt the State Retail Trade Policy and permit retailers to operate around-the-clock, in accordance with the policies of the state governments of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. India’s retail industry is projected to reach $2 trillion by 2032.
