77th All India Textile Conference Post-Pandemic Vision for the Global Textile Industry

The 77th All India Textile Conference was held on the 16th and 17th of March, 2024 at the esteemed Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD), New Delhi. Hosted by The Textile Association (India) – Delhi, the conference brought together industry delegates, research experts, and dignitaries to discuss the theme of “Post-Pandemic on Global Vision of Textile Industry.”

Inaugural Session: Dignitaries and Awards

The conference was inaugurated with great enthusiasm, with Mr. Madhu Sudhan Bhageria, Chairman of Filatex India Limited, serving as the Chief Guest. Mr. Anil Jain, Chairman of Jain Cord Group of Industries, also graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor. Other notable attendees included Mr R.K. Vij, President – Emeritus of TAI Central office; Mr T L Patel, National President of TAI; Mr Ritesh Gupta, President of TAI Delhi, and Ms D. K. Singh, Chairman of the 77th AITC.

During the inaugural session, TAI’s prestigious awards were presented to deserving individuals for their outstanding contributions to the textile industry. Mr R.K. Vij received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his exemplary social services, while Mr T. K. Sen Gupta and Prof. G. K. Tyagi were also honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Exciting Discussions and Knowledge Sharing

The conference provided a platform for industry delegates from all over India to engage in meaningful discussions about the future of the textile industry in a post-pandemic world. With a focus on emerging trends such as Sustainability, Technical Textiles, and Protective Textiles, the delegates delved into crucial topics that are essential for meeting the current requirements of the textile industry.

Dr. R. Alagiruamy, Head of the Department of Textile and Fibre Engineering at IIT Delhi, highlighted the various facilities available at the institute to support research and innovation in the textile sector. Moreover, Prof. B.K. Behera from IIT Delhi, the Knowledge Partner of the conference, shed light on the theme of the event, emphasising the importance of adapting to the post-pandemic scenario in the textile industry.

Valedictory Session: A Grand Finale

The two-day conference concluded with a valedictory session on the 17th of March, where Mr. Rohit Rishi, Executive Director of Bank of Maharashtra, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The session served as a fitting finale to the conference.
