On February 15, 2024, Henkel AG acquired the U.S.-based Seal for Life Industries LLP to further strengthen its adhesive technologies. With Seal for Life, which offers verified cutting-edge solutions for sealants, Henkel is expected to add intriguing technologies to its booming MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) platform.

In 2020, L.S. Industries was acquired by Sika AG for the expansion of its command of sealants. BASF SE also launched the MasterSeal NP 150 series primarily designed to be used in construction, offering improved durability in adhesion, and resistance to weather and chemicals. In the same year, 3M acquired EMFI.S.A. and SAPO S.A. (two of the polyurethane adhesives and sealants manufacturers in France) complementing the products of 3M Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division. 

A year later, Bostik, the adhesive segment of Arkema introduced a new range of products which boosted Bostik’s position in the sealant business, especially in the new constructions seeking high-quality solutions in the developing countries. Locality PL Max Premium Polyurethane Construction Adhesive was launched by Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, developed for hard-wearing operations in construction, and offers excellent adherence, robustness, and weather resistance.

To conclude, new legislation and regulations regarding the treatment of materials containing diisocyanates are expected to change the applications of polyurethane sealants.
