In the future textile cluster in Nimbola village, Burhanpur, a sizable number of businesses—more than 100 in total—have purchased land. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that has allotted land to 108 firms is helping to build the cluster. The SPV anticipates investing between Rs 200 and Rs 250 billion in the textile cluster. The land distribution has been verified by Abhilash Meravi, general manager of the DIC in Burhanpur, who also noted that infrastructure development, including road building, drainage systems, and other civil work, is currently under way.
Meravi added that businesses are likely to start building shortly in order to establish their facilities within the cluster. The state government will contribute 10% of the overall infrastructure expenditures, or a maximum of Rs 10 crore, to the construction of the Nimbola textile cluster over the course of four phases, with the remaining expenses being covered by the enterprises. The Nimbola textile cluster, one of the first proposed clusters in Burhanpur, is designed primarily for regional power looms and textile businesses.
Nearly 40,000 power loom machines are used in homes, cramped spaces, and haphazard workshops all over Burhanpur, which is known for its looms. Two other textile clusters, one in Mohammadpura and the other in Sukhpuri, were intended for Burhanpur in addition to the Nimbola cluster. However, Sukhpuri’s infrastructure development has not yet begun, but Mohammadpura’s construction is, according to the MSME department, around 60% finished.
In Mohammadpura and Sukhpuri, two locations in Burhanpur, the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department has set aside 23 and 63 hectares of land, respectively, for the construction of clusters.
