Indian textile exporters have huge opportunities in Bangladesh, Middle East and Africa : Sonil Jain

 SOWTEX and SRTEPC jointly organized “Textile Sourcing Seminar” in Surat

“The total textile business in all over the world is estimated at $577 billion, but India’s share is only about 3 percent. India produces almost all fabrics including cotton, MMF, carpet, jute…etc. We need to realize the export potential. Today, indian exporters have huge opportunities in countries like Bangladesh, Middle East and Africa. We can capture the market by understanding the global market trends and adopting special strategies.” Sonil Jain, Co-Founder and CEO, SOWTEX, spoke at the “Textile Sourcing Seminar” held at Le Meridien hotel on March 21, 2023 in Surat. SOWTEX is a dedicated online B2B Marketspace that connects small and medium enterprises in the textile industry with global buyers.

This seminar was organized by SOWTEX and The Synthetic & Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) in collaboration with SGS. In his presentation Sonil Jain said, india is the second largest textile chain after China. In india, allmost all the clusters has huge potential. We have to understand our shortcomings. India’s textile export has decreased compared to last year. Now when foreign buyers are coming to India, we have to capture this opportunity. Government itself is keen to increase textile export. We can definitely increase the export if quality fabrics are made by understanding the global market trend. European countries are currently emphasizing on recycled fabrics products. We should know the needs and increase the meeting with buyers globally. Local manufacturers should increase online visibility and focus on timely delivery of quality products.

He briefed about the export opportunities in Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s textile export has doubled in the last three years. Garment exports to India through Bangladesh are estimated to be 58 percent. Bangladesh is keen to increase trade with India. There are good opportunities available to increase textile export by realizing the need of cotton, polyester, denim fabrics. SOWTEX is organising “TEXTILE SOURCING MEET-23” in Dhaka (Bangladesh) from 20-21 May, 2023. The meet will showcase a wide range of MMF fabrics and yarns, recycled and organic fabrics, embroidery, lace, fashion garments. More than 1000 manufacturers and exporters of textiles, garments, fashion fabrics will attend this two-day meet. SOWTEX can help indian textile manufacturers to tap the export market. We understand the needs of global buyers and accordingly present the data. He appealed to the local manufacturers to participate in this meet.

The representatives of SOWTEX briefed about the quality inspection, product monitoring, suppliers education, market catering, certification, testing, Audit of Product/Factory offered by the organization. A large number of local textile exporters, weavers including SRTEPC chairman Dheeraj Shah, former chairman Naren Aggarwal were present in this seminar.
