Darshana Vikram Jardosh, minister of state for textiles and railways, attended the valedictory session on the final day of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry’s (CITI) third Global Textiles Conclave (GTC). In her special address, she noted that the occasion was timed to coincide with India’s presidency of the G20 and that there was a chance for India to make contributions to issues of international significance, with textiles being one of them.
The minister emphasised during his speech at the occasion the necessity for companies to continuously develop their business models and supply chains by implementing new technology in order to satisfy the changing demands of many of their significant markets. The minister thanked CITI for planning the event and expressed his hope that CITI announced in a news release that it would continue to work to advance sustainability in India.
T Rajkumar, the chairman of CITI, thanked everyone for coming and praised the efforts made by the Indian government to promote the textile sector. Also, he extended his congratulations to all of the recipients of the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards for their great work and exhorted the Indian textile industry to adopt sustainable practises for the long term.Rakesh Mehra, deputy chairman of CITI, made a motion for a vote of thanks.
Following the opening of a curtain raiser for the event, Chandrima Chatterjee, secretary general of CITI, announced that the following iteration of the annual event would be held in Ahmedabad in the second week of February 2024 along with the Spinners Association Gujarat (SAG) and other regional textile associations. the GTC’s forthcoming fourth edition.
All of Gujarat’s major textile associations, including Assocham (Gujarat chapter) and SGCI, will collaborate to make the fourth iteration of the GTC the “giant textile event” of 2024, according to SAG President Ripple Patel. SAG is in communication with other textile groups in Surat, Jetpur, Ahmedabad, and other cities. Soon, an official invitation will be made public.
As a part of CITI’s continuous trade promotion operations, the third iteration of the GTC was held from March 15–17, 2023, in Jaipur, India. Strategies for Balancing Sustainability & Profitability in the Textile Value Chain was the event’s theme.
