YKK India Breaks Ground on $150 Million Plant in Tamil Nadu

New facility near Chennai will be YKK India’s third plant and is scheduled for completion in February 2028

YKK held a groundbreaking ceremony on September 25, 2026, marking the start of construction of YKK India Private Limited’s new plant in southern India. Approximately 40 participants, including Jin Deguchi, Managing Director of YKK India, attended the ceremony.

The new facility will be established at the ORIGINS Chennai industrial park near Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and will become YKK India’s third plant in India. It will operate alongside the company’s two existing plants in Haryana in northern India.

New Production Facility in Tamil Nadu

The new plant is planned as a state-of-the-art facility bringing together YKK’s technologies to serve India’s domestic market and export-oriented manufacturing market. Both markets are expected to grow further, according to the company.

Through the new facility, YKK aims to create employment opportunities, contribute to the local community and establish a production system capable of responding to a wide range of customer requirements.

The plant will be developed with an investment of USD 150 million, covering land, buildings, machinery, equipment and other costs.

Plant Details

The new YKK India facility will be located at Plot No. 9, 10, and 11, ORIGINS by Mahindra World City, Eliambedu Village, Gummidipoondi and Ponneri Taluks, Tiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu-601206, India.

  • Building area: 74,658 m²
  • Scheduled completion: February 2028

The facility will expand YKK India’s manufacturing footprint beyond its existing operations in Haryana and is planned to support the company’s production requirements for both domestic and export-oriented markets.
