YKK Corporation Joins ZDHC as Signatory Supplier in May 2026

YKK Corporation, headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo and led by President Koichi Matsushima, announced that it became a Signatory Supplier of ZDHC in May 2026.
ZDHC is a global organization focused on the textile and apparel sector with the objective of eliminating hazardous chemicals from manufacturing processes and promoting responsible chemical management practices. Its network includes apparel brands, supply chain companies, and third-party testing and verification organizations from around the world.
Through collaboration across the textile and apparel value chain, ZDHC works to establish common standards for chemical management and support industry-wide initiatives aimed at reducing hazardous chemical usage.
YKK stated that it has been strengthening chemical management practices in its manufacturing operations and products through its own internal standards, which are aligned with ZDHC’s publicly available policies.
According to the company, growing attention toward environmental impact reduction and occupational safety in manufacturing processes has increased the need for greater transparency and unified industry standards. Based on these developments, YKK decided to join ZDHC as a Signatory Supplier.
The company said its participation in ZDHC will contribute to industry-wide chemical management efforts while supporting initiatives related to reduced environmental impact and occupational safety.
Mai Mizubayashi, Vice President, Sustainability Department, YKK Corporation, said:
“The YKK Philosophy of the CYCLE OF GOODNESS® “No one prospers without rendering benefit to others,” is deeply connected to the concept of sustainability. Challenges related to chemicals used in manufacturing processes cannot be fundamentally addressed by the efforts of a single company alone. By joining ZDHC, we aim to further strengthen collaboration with our customers, suppliers, and verification bodies, and to steadily advance improvements in chemical management toward the realization of a circular economy.”
