Yarn Expo Spring 2027 to Return to Shanghai with Focus on Yarn and Fibre Innovation
Trade fair will bring yarn and fibre suppliers together with global buyers from 10–12 March 2027
Yarn Expo Spring 2027 will take place at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) from 10 to 12 March 2027, bringing together companies and buyers from across the global yarn and fibre industry.
The upcoming edition follows the fair's largest edition to date, held in March 2026, which attracted more than 600 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions and over 25,000 visitors from 113 countries and regions.
The fair will once again be held alongside Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Spring Edition, CHIC and PH Value, creating opportunities for participants across different stages of the textile value chain to connect around sourcing and material requirements.
Focus on Changing Yarn and Fibre Sourcing Needs
Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd General Manager Wilmet Shea said the previous edition's participation highlighted the importance of bringing the yarn and fibre industry together in Shanghai.
She said suppliers at the 2027 edition will be able to present new developments to buyers from apparel, home textiles, knitting and related sectors, while discussing requirements and developing business relationships.
The global yarn, fibre and thread market is projected to reach USD 182.7 billion by 2032, while the Asia-Pacific region remains a major centre for spinning, filament and textile production and downstream demand.
China's integrated fibre, yarn, textile and equipment sectors further contribute to Shanghai's position as an industry meeting point.
Yarn Expo Spring will cover product categories including cotton and linen, chemical and regenerated fibres, fancy yarn and other yarn and fibre segments.
Demand for Recycled and Bio-Based Materials
The fair comes as sourcing requirements become increasingly focused on material performance and supply-chain considerations.
Areas of interest include recycled and bio-based inputs, improved traceability and safer processing, alongside specialised products such as glass fibre yarns.
Glass fibre yarn applications can require properties such as strength, thermal performance and processing characteristics.
The previous edition featured exhibitors including Better International, Circ Inc, Everest Textile and Toray Industries, while the 2027 event will again provide dedicated areas for different yarn and fibre categories.
The fair's International Zone and eight dedicated zones will cover:

- Chemical Fibre
- Fancy Yarn
- Linen Yarn
- Silk Yarn
- Wool Yarn
- Digital Solution Zone
These areas are intended to help visitors identify materials and suppliers according to their sourcing and end-use requirements.
Exhibitor Feedback from Previous Edition
The importance of direct interaction between suppliers and buyers was highlighted by Raj Bhimani, Sales Manager of Spinfab Spinners, which participated in the India Pavilion at the previous edition.
He said the fair enabled the company to connect with customers from different markets, including European suit makers and fashion buyers from Southeast Asia.
Material Innovation to Feature in Supporting Events
Yarn Expo Spring 2027 will also feature supporting activities focused on material development, trends and applications.
The programme will include China Yarns Fashion Trends, Tongkun · China Fibre Fashion Trend 2027/2028, New Fibre New World – Textile Materials Innovation Activities, and selected Enterprise Product Launch sessions.
These activities will bring together perspectives on material trends, product applications and fibre and yarn innovation.
The organisers said the programme is intended to help participants understand how changing market expectations are influencing material development and the movement of innovations from research and development into commercial applications.
Yarn Expo Spring 2027
Yarn Expo Spring is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Sub-Council of Textile Industry, CCPIT.
The fair will take place alongside Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics – Spring Edition, Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles – Spring Edition, CHIC and PH Value, allowing exhibitors and buyers to access multiple segments of the textile and fashion supply chain during the same period.
