Yarn Expo 2025 in Surat Clocks ₹1,000 Cr Business Leads

The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI)’s Yarn Expo 2025 concluded on a high note, recording over ₹1,000 crore in business leads projected over the next six months. Held from August 1 over three days at Sarsana in Surat, the event saw an impressive turnout of 24,884 buyers from more than 100 Indian cities as well as countries like Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and Bangladesh.

The expo featured active participation from 85 leading yarn manufacturers from across India, who showcased more than 100 types of innovative yarns. These included biodegradable, anti-microbial, moisture management, fire-retardant, and recycled polyester yarns, drawing significant interest from industry professionals.

SGCCI President Nikhil Madrasi remarked, “The response has been phenomenal. Exhibitors are expecting over 20% business growth this season due to the huge orders placed by buyers from outside the state.” He highlighted that this year’s Yarn Expo created new possibilities not only in traditional fabric manufacturing but also in areas such as functional textiles, exports, sportswear, and sustainable apparel.

Madrasi further emphasized the shift occurring within Surat’s textile sector. “The wide variety of yarns on display will lead to the development of new-age fabrics in Surat. The industry is shifting from commodity production to value-added, export-oriented textile innovation,” he stated.

The daily visitor count reflected this growing interest: 6,128 buyers on Day 1, 8,602 on Day 2, and 10,154 on the final day. Garment manufacturers, retailers, and traders — from Gujarat and other textile hubs — engaged actively with exhibitors, placing bulk orders and requesting samples for further collaboration.

Multiple exhibitors confirmed receiving significant orders from major domestic markets such as Delhi, Ludhiana, Mumbai, and Tirupur. In addition, buyers from Europe and Bangladesh expressed keen interest, reinforcing Surat’s reputation as a center for textile innovation.

A yarn manufacturer from Ludhiana shared, “We’ve already had enquiries for long-term contracts and export supply chains. This expo has opened new markets for us.”

With exhibitors expressing strong interest in pre-booking stalls for next year’s event, SGCCI is optimistic about Yarn Expo 2026. In a post-COVID world that increasingly values sustainable and performance-based textiles, Yarn Expo 2025 has strategically placed Surat on the global textile map as a hub for next-generation innovation and international connectivity.
