Developed over a year, Echoes of Bombay captures Mumbai’s architectural heritage, cultural memory, and evolving urban identity through intricately embroidered works. Each piece reflects a careful process of research, observation, and meticulous craftsmanship, demonstrating embroidery as both an artistic and archival medium.
The exhibition maps the city’s transformation, beginning with the Map of Old Mumbai—The Seven Islands, and highlighting key landmarks including Kala Ghoda, Dhobi Ghat, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Rajabai Tower, Mumba Devi Temple, Bhendi Bazaar, Flora Fountain, Regal Circle with Gateway of India, CST, BMC Building, and Ballard Pier. The culminating work, Skyline of Bombay—By the Artist, brings together these iconic structures in a composition shaped by memory rather than geography.

Founded in 2004, V V. Exports has grown under Kailash Poojary’s leadership into a globally recognized embroidery atelier, known for its craftsmanship and collaborations across fashion and design. The exhibition is hosted at 47-A, a historic 19th-century Portuguese-style home in Girgaum, one of Mumbai’s original villages, serving as a venue for art, craft, and design.
