UNITEX Launches Digitally Integrated Filament Yarn Plant in Trang Bang

UNITEX has commissioned a new filament yarn manufacturing facility in Trang Bang, Vietnam, adding 36,000 tonnes per year to its production capacity. The project marks another collaboration between the company and Barmag, which supplied both the production equipment and the digital infrastructure for the plant.
The newly inaugurated site operates as a fully digitalized factory through the use of Barmag’s atmos.io digitalization platform. All material movement within the plant is digitally captured and interconnected, with each yarn package assigned a unique data profile documenting its individual production characteristics.

Artificial intelligence is used to identify process variations at an early stage, allowing operators to intervene quickly. Adjustments to material flow can be carried out in real time, while a digitally connected laboratory supports quality control measures across the production process. This integrated system improves operational efficiency and strengthens process stability, contributing to consistent product quality.
According to UNITEX Chief Executive Officer Jack Dang, the selection of atmos.io was driven by the need for a unified digital framework across production operations. He noted that the platform enables improved equipment performance monitoring, supports faster decision-making, and allows flexible adaptation to customer-specific requirements.
The digital system also incorporates third-party automation solutions, enabling continuous tracking of materials from polymer melt through to finished and stored packages. Jörg Groß, Lead of Digital Product Development, stated that the objective was to establish complete process visibility rather than limiting digital connectivity to individual machines.

Barmag supplied the full set of production hardware for the plant, covering all stages from raw material preparation and extrusion to spinning and texturing, along with associated utility systems.
UNITEX, a subsidiary of Century Corporation, is one of Vietnam’s established producers of specialty yarns and recycled draw-textured yarn (DTY). The new facility strengthens its manufacturing base while supporting greater digital integration in filament yarn production.
