UniFor Unveils ‘Non Places’ Installation at Milan Design Week 2026

On the occasion of Milan Design Week 2026, UniFor has introduced two new product families, MTM – Made to Measure and Giuditta, developed in collaboration with Herzog & de Meuron. The collections present distinct design approaches while maintaining a shared focus on spatial construction. Both systems are showcased within a conceptual installation framework.
MTM – Made to Measure is based on a modular system defined by a consistent geometry and scalable structure. The system is designed to be extended and reconfigured while maintaining its identity, allowing adaptation across different environments without altering its core structure.
The Giuditta collection, originally developed for the bistro at Villa Roccabruna, now part of the Mandarin Oriental, Lake Como, is derived from a traditional typology reinterpreted with a contemporary approach. The range includes indoor and outdoor seating, focusing on elements such as construction precision, comfort, and proportion.
The presentation of both collections is framed within “Non Places,” a concept developed by Studio Klass, responsible for UniFor’s creative direction. The concept is expressed through an editorial and photographic project, as well as a site-specific installation. The approach is based on creating a neutral, undefined spatial setting where the products are presented without association to a specific typology or context.
“We live in a time when every object seems required to declare its context. With Non Places we chose to do the opposite: to construct a neutral, as yet undetermined condition in which the product could express itself as an autonomous presence.” Marco Maturo, Studio Klass Co-Founder
The installation features a curved glass cylinder forming a defined yet transparent boundary. Inside, a red pigmented mineral surface creates a non-referential landscape, accompanied by a suspended luminous ellipse that contributes to the overall spatial environment. Within this setting, the furniture is positioned independently, without reference to predefined usage scenarios.
The project extends to the outdoor area along Passeggiata Pasternak, where the installation continues as a horizontal surface. The design incorporates graphic markings inspired by sports field layouts, forming a structured yet open environment. MTM table tennis tables are integrated into this space, allowing public interaction within the installation.
The outdoor area, consistent with the Non Places concept, functions as an open framework without a fixed identity, shaped by its users and their interactions.
Through this presentation, UniFor highlights an approach that integrates design, research, and production into a single process. The collections and installation are developed in parallel, aligning structural design, spatial planning, and visual presentation.
“Milan Design Week represents for UniFor a moment of synthesis and exchange. The work we are presenting is the result of a shared journey, in which design, production and curatorial vision intertwine organically. Every detail, from the construction system to the installation, arises from a collective process that reflects our way of understanding design.” Carlo Molteni, UniFor CEO
The exhibition takes place at Spazio UniFor, which is presented as a combined environment for product display, architectural exploration, and conceptual installation.
