Collaboration combines UGG’s footwear design with Nuyarn’s wool spinning technology for enhanced durability, moisture management and thermal performance

Nuyarn® technologies, a developer of performance yarn and fabric technologies, has partnered with UGG on the Otzo Clog, integrating Nuyarn’s patented spinning technology into a lifestyle footwear product.

The Otzo Clog features a nubuck upper and a wool jersey lining developed using Nuyarn® technology. According to the company, the spinning process differs from conventional ring-spun wool production by drafting wool onto a high-performance filament, allowing the natural characteristics of wool fibers to be retained while increasing strength and performance.

The collaboration comes as demand for natural and renewable materials continues to grow within the fashion industry. Nuyarn stated that its manufacturing process uses 30% fewer raw materials and 73% less energy. The Otzo Clog incorporates RWS (Responsible Wool Standard) certified wool, supporting animal welfare and land management requirements throughout the supply chain.

According to Nuyarn, the technology offers several performance characteristics:

• Up to 8.8x greater durability compared with conventional wool.
• Drying times up to 5x faster than conventional ring-spun wool.
• 35% higher thermal retention.
• 85% greater elasticity and 50% higher burst strength without the use of spandex.

The Otzo Clog represents the latest application of Nuyarn’s performance wool technology within a consumer footwear product.
