Trützschler Highlights Results from IDF 3 Draw Frame Trials in Türkiye

Production trials indicate higher throughput and stable quality in short fiber processing applications

Trützschler Group SE has released trial results related to its Integrated Draw Frame IDF 3, outlining performance data from customer evaluations conducted under production conditions in Türkiye. The trials focused on short fiber processing and assessed the system in combination with Trützschler carding equipment.

According to the company, several spinning mills tested the IDF 3 in rotor spinning applications, comparing it with conventional process setups. The reported results include increases in production rates, stable quality performance, and reductions in IPI values under specific operating conditions.

Trial Results from Rotor Spinning Operations

A Turkish spinning mill producing 100% cotton rotor yarn (Ne 30/1) evaluated its conventional setup of one breaker and one finisher draw frame, operating consistently at 90 kg/h, against a TC 30i card combined with the Integrated Draw Frame IDF 3.

The company reported that the TC 30i and IDF 3 configuration increased production in stages from 130 kg/h and later to 150 kg/h. Across all trials, the combination produced higher and more consistent quality with lower IPI values. The results also indicated process stability at the increased production levels.

Additional trials conducted by other Turkish spinning mills examined the use of TC 30i cards equipped with IDF 3 in rotor spinning lines processing cotton and cotton blends. According to the reported findings, the configuration shortened the process and achieved a 33% increase in productivity compared with a conventional competitor setup that included a breaker and a finisher draw frame. Quality levels were reported to remain consistent during operation.

Performance Data Beyond the TC 30i

Another Turkish customer carried out trials using the IDF 3 combined with a TC 19i card while processing a blend consisting of 50% cotton waste and 50% polyester.

At a production rate of 130 kg/h, the IDF 3 process reduced IPI levels when compared with a conventional two-passage draw frame arrangement consisting of one breaker and one finisher draw frame. The company stated that even when production was increased to 220 kg/h, IPI values achieved with the IDF 3 remained below those recorded in the conventional process.

Based on these results, the mill management decided to remove competitor cards and competitor draw frames from the mill and switch to the latest card generation, TC 30i, combined with IDF 3.
