Toray Industries (H.K.) Ltd., part of Japan-based Toray Industries, Inc., has successfully gone live with Centric PLM™ to improve efficiency in product development, cost management and cross-functional coordination. The implementation was led through Toray’s Hong Kong operations and was completed through a phased approach, remaining on schedule, within scope and within budget.
Toray Industries, founded in 1926 and headquartered in Japan, is a global advanced materials company with operations spanning textiles, resins, chemicals, films, carbon fiber composites, electronic materials, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and water treatment solutions. Through a global network of more than 300 group companies, the company serves customers across the fashion and apparel industry.
Centric PLM Introduced to Improve Information Management
Increasingly diverse and complex market requirements led Toray Industries to identify the need for more streamlined information management across production and product development. The company implemented Centric PLM to strengthen visibility and coordination among cross-functional teams.
The project was primarily driven through Toray’s Hong Kong operations, which serve as a key hub for production management. Centric Software’s phased implementation methodology was used to support the deployment and maintain the project schedule and scope.
Kotaro Kishi, Division Manager, Transformation Hub at Toray Industries (H.K.) Ltd., said, “Given the number of stakeholders involved, the project required extensive coordination. With the expertise of the Centric Software team and strong alignment across the project teams, Toray is pleased to have reached go-live on time, within scope and within budget.”
Focus on Cross-Functional Alignment and User Adoption
During the implementation, Toray Industries and Centric Software teams focused on cross-functional alignment, clearly defined ownership and practical user engagement. The approach was intended to support early adoption and facilitate the transition to the new system.
With Centric PLM now fully deployed, Toray Industries has established a centralized foundation for managing development specifications and cost information.
