Tonello Unveils Denim Illusion 2, Exploring New Possibilities in Fabric Transformation
The collection explores how lyocell, nylon, blended fabrics and wool can take on denim-inspired aesthetics through integrated garment-finishing technologies. It will debut at Kingpins Amsterdam on October 14–15, 2026.
Tonello is set to present Denim Illusion 2: The Art of Transformation at Kingpins Amsterdam, taking place on October 14–15, 2026. The collection continues the company’s exploration of transforming non-denim materials into fabrics with the visual character of denim.
Following the first chapter, which recreated denim’s visual identity on non-denim fabrics, the new collection experiments with materials that differ from traditional denim in their properties, textures and applications.
Exploring Lyocell, Nylon, Blends and Wool
Lyocell is a central material in the collection. Known for its soft surface, natural drape and understated elegance, it offers a contrast to the rough and imperfect appearance associated with worn denim.
The collection also features nylon, blended fabrics and wool. These materials bring different functional and aesthetic qualities, ranging from technical performance to warmth and sophistication, while being transformed with denim-inspired characteristics.
Integrated Finishing Technologies Drive Transformation
The collection uses Tonello’s integrated garment-finishing approach, combining dyeing, laser, ozone and washing processes to explore new design possibilities.
Rather than simply reproducing the appearance of conventional denim, the approach examines how these processes can change the aesthetic character of different fabrics and expand their potential applications.
Through Denim Illusion 2, Tonello explores how materials can move beyond their conventional identities, challenging established expectations about their appearance and character.
