Tiruppur to Host Domestic Garment Exhibition in January 2027

SIHMA and TIDGMA plan a five-day event to showcase garments made for India's domestic market, with 75–115 stalls expected

The South India Hosiery Manufacturers Association (SIHMA) and the Tirupur Domestic Garments Manufacturers Association (TIDGMA) will jointly organise a domestic garment exhibition in Tiruppur in January next year. The event will focus on apparel produced for the Indian market, including T-shirts, innerwear and other garments manufactured by the region's textile industry.

Tiruppur's Domestic Garment Market

Apart from export-oriented apparel, Tiruppur produces T-shirts, innerwear and other garments worth over ₹40,000 crore annually for the Indian market. Several leading brands source garments from the city.

R. Dhamodharan, secretary of SIHMA, said the association has nearly 675 manufacturers of garments and innerwear for the Indian market, while TIDGMA has 350 to 400 manufacturers of apparel.

These producers make garments for the summer and winter seasons.

“We plan to hold two fairs annually - one in Tiruppur for summer wear and another in a north Indian city for winter wear. Tiruppur garment makers produce winter wear such as thermal wear, hoodies, shirts and basic garments,” he said.

Exhibition to Feature Retail Garment Suppliers

The logo for the event was released and the registration began on October 9 at a meeting headed by P. Shanmugasundaram, president of SIHMA, and M.K. Balasubramanian, president of TIDGMA.

The exhibition will be held at the India Knit Fair complex from January 3 to 5, with 75–115 stalls expected.

“We plan to invite retail chains, distributors, white label buyers, corporate buyers, and uniform producers to this business event,” he added.
