Tiruppur Garment Exports Cross ₹46,000 Crore in 2025–26

TEA highlights growth in knitwear exports and opportunities in manmade fibre garments, technical textiles and performance wear

Garment exports from Tiruppur crossed ₹46,000 crore in 2025–26, according to the Tiruppur Exporters Association (TEA). At the association’s annual meeting, office-bearers highlighted opportunities to expand exports through new product segments, free trade agreements and greater technology adoption.

Tiruppur Explores New Export Opportunities

Speaking at the annual meeting held recently in Tiruppur, K.M. Subramanian, President of TEA, said the city was exploring the production and export of manmade fibre garments, technical textiles and performance wear as part of efforts to achieve higher exports.

He also said exporters should make use of opportunities emerging through free trade agreements, while greater adoption of technology would be important for improving Tiruppur’s competitiveness.

International Buyers Looking to Increase Indian Supplies

Kumar Duraiswamy, Joint Secretary of TEA, said international buyers were looking at doubling supplies from India to their countries by 2030.

The statement comes as Tiruppur continues to play a major role in India’s knitwear export sector.

Knitwear Exports Register 2.49% Growth

N. Thirukkumaran, Secretary of TEA, said that despite various challenges, knitwear exports from Tiruppur grew 2.49% in the last fiscal year compared with the previous year.

Tiruppur accounts for 54.74% of India’s knitwear exports.

Under the Samarth scheme, nearly 19,050 people were trained in Tiruppur.

TEA Website Redesigned, Exporters Honoured

During the meeting, K.M. Subramanian launched the redesigned website of the Tiruppur Exporters Association.

The association also presented awards to 24 exporters for excellence in various categories.
