The Textile Association (India) – South Gujarat Unit Organises Seminar on “Next-Gen Textile Industry"

The Textile Association (India) – South Gujarat Unit successfully organised a seminar titled “Next-Gen Textile Industry” on 11 July 2026 at The Palace Hall, Junomoneto Tower, Opp. RTO, Pal, Surat. The theme was “In Context of Man-Made Textiles: Sustainability Challenges and Growth Avenues with AI-ML & Government Schemes.”

The event drew participation from textile industrialists, entrepreneurs, academicians, researchers, students, consultants and professionals from South Gujarat. It served as a platform to discuss sustainability, artificial intelligence, digital transformation and government initiatives shaping the Indian textile industry.

The programme was led by President Mr Niraj Modi, Chairman Mr Minesh Adhvaryu, Convenor Mr Virendra Jariwala, Vice President Mr Krishnakant Kharwar, Hon. Secretary Mr Pawan Panwala, Hon. Treasurer Mr Minesh Patwa, and Advisors Dr P. A. Khatwani and Mr Ketan Jariwala.

Technical Sessions

Session I by Mr Avinash Mayekar, Managing Director, SUVIN, addressed “Challenges of Sustainability for Man-Made Textiles.” He emphasised environmental compliance, ESG reporting, circular economy practices, carbon footprint reduction, waste management, resource optimisation and sustainable manufacturing to balance profitability with environmental responsibility.

Session II by Mr Hiren Pandya, Technical Expert – Lean Manufacturing, ZED & ESG and Empanelled Consultant, MSME, Government of India, covered “Enhancing MSMEs Competitiveness Through ZED & Lean Scheme.” He explained the Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) Certification and Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme, showing how they help textile MSMEs improve productivity, reduce wastage, enhance quality, cut costs and gain global competitiveness. Session III by Mr Siddharth Kamat, Industry Engagement Lead – MSMEs, AI Centre of Excellence, Department of Science & Technology, Government of Gujarat, focused on “Making Textile Industries Globally Competitive with AI & Smart Technologies.” He highlighted Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, automation, data analytics, smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 applications in production planning, quality control, predictive maintenance, inventory management, energy optimisation and supply-chain efficiency. The session generated strong interest among young professionals and students.

Interactive question-and-answer sessions after each presentation allowed discussion on practical challenges, future technologies, sustainability, career opportunities and skill development.
