According to reports, the government is considering lowering the eligibility requirements for the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) plan for textiles in order to increase the number of participants who are eligible for benefits and ensure that the monies provided for encouraging manufacturing in the nation are used to their fullest potential. The required condition that applicants form a new business in order to qualify for benefits may be re-examined, both for the current PLI scheme for textiles and the proposed second edition currently under consideration, a source following the situation said. "It has proven to be an irritant for some investors."
