Textil A. Ortiz Adds Fourth Monforts Montex Stenter

Spain’s Textil A. Ortiz continues to solidify its position as Europe’s premier supplier of high-quality lining fabrics through a strategic programme of continuous expansion, focusing on resource efficiency and environmental excellence.
The company, which marked its 70th anniversary in 2024, has recently commissioned a fourth Monforts Montex stenter at its Santa Perpètua de Mogoda facility, located 25 km north of Barcelona. This plant is one of three operated by the company, alongside a second in Catalonia and a third in Valencia. The partnership with Monforts and local representative Aguilar & Pineda dates back to the 1970s.
Trusted Supplier
The newly installed Montex line is used to finish fabrics with softeners, water repellents, and flame retardants, achieving substantial cost savings. Textil A. Ortiz stocks linings in over 1,000 colors, offering customized finishing options and a comprehensive database of designs and prints.

Linings are stocked in more than 1,000 colours with special finishing options for customers.
“To be competitive in this sector, it is mandatory to keep working on innovation and fabric design with the latest technology, because for the major companies we work with, fast service, superior quality and unbeatable prices are paramount,” said Xavier Mundet, Plant Manager at Santa Perpètua de Mogoda. “We have always trusted Monforts and have been very satisfied with the performance of our existing Montex stenters.”
The Montex 8500-9F, featuring nine chambers and a nominal width of 200 cm, is equipped with direct gas heating, a Hercules needle chain, a Matex finishing padder, and two heat exchangers. Integrated with heat recovery and the Monformatic Professional measuring and control system, it ensures minimal energy consumption while delivering consistent and reproducible fabric quality.
Sustainable Operations
“The installation of a water treatment plant using evaporation and condensation allows us to be the first dyeing and finishing company that does not discharge water into the public sewerage system,” said Abel Ortiz, Manager at Textil A. Ortiz.
The company has further invested in new circular knitting machines, the production of recycled polyester lining fabrics, and a renewable energy infrastructure featuring 15,000 m² of photovoltaic panels and two wind turbines, supplying the Santa Perpètua de Mogoda plant entirely with green energy.

“Our customer is very happy with the energy savings it is experiencing on the new machines compared to the older stenters,” noted Oriol Canet, Sales Manager at Aguilar & Pineda. “Monforts continues to update its machines for resource efficiency. With the latest Montex stenters, energy savings of up to 40% can now be achieved compared to conventional stenters without heat recovery or energy optimization.”
“Local service and sustainability are increasingly valued today, which is a situation we are very happy with,” added Abel Ortiz. “Trusted technology providers like Monforts enable us to make further gains in these areas.”
