TENCEL™ Lyocell HV100: Nature-Inspired Fiber Innovation

A Fiber That Brings Natural Irregularity to Textiles
Lenzing’s new TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 offers controlled fiber variation for fabrics with authentic, natural textures while maintaining eco-friendly production.
Lenzing has unveiled a new fiber, TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100, designed to replicate the natural, uneven textures found in fibers. By using controlled variations in fiber length, ranging from 10 to 28 mm, this innovation allows the creation of fabrics with authentic, irregular surfaces that reflect nature’s raw aesthetic.
For the first time, TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 brings this organic, undefined look to the TENCEL™ Lyocell portfolio. Meeting growing market demands for naturally inspired aesthetics and responsible production, the fiber will initially debut in denim and is expected to expand into woven and home textile applications in 2026.
The fiber will be officially introduced at Kingpins Amsterdam, scheduled for October 15-16. Detailed information can be accessed via the Fiber Catalog on Lenzing Pro, the company’s digital services platform (lenzingpro.com).
Innovation Through Variocut Technology
Developed to meet the needs of textile value chain partners seeking natural-textured fabrics, TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 uses Variocut technology to deliberately vary fiber length within each bale. This produces subtle irregularities reminiscent of natural fibers while maintaining the high quality and environmental advantages inherent to LENZING™ cellulosic fibers.
Crafting Subtle Natural Imperfections
TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 fibers retain the eco-friendly profile of standard LENZING™ Lyocell, while offering a semi-dull matte finish that enhances fabric texture. The fibers provide a soft yet structured hand feel, ideal for premium denim products, delivering natural softness without washdown issues or overly fluid drape.
“TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 redefines the potential of regenerated cellulosic fibers,” said Rohit Aggarwal, CEO of Lenzing Group. “It arrives as the textile industry faces a growing gap between fiber demand and supply. By offering natural aesthetics and sustainability, it helps partners meet consumer expectations while prioritizing resource efficiency.”
Versatility Across Textiles
The fiber performs exceptionally well in denim, particularly in warp yarns traditionally dominated by cotton, while maintaining processing efficiency. Beyond denim, trials in apparel and home textiles show TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100’s potential in blended applications with standard Lyocell or cotton, creating varied textures and hand-feels suitable for products ranging from chinos to soft furnishings.
Krishna Manda, VP Corporate Sustainability at Lenzing, highlighted, “TENCEL™ Lyocell - HV100 addresses a central question in sustainability: reducing environmental impact while enhancing design. Our closed-loop process lowers water use and carbon emissions by at least 50% compared to generic Lyocell, while providing versatile aesthetics for brands.”
Florian Heubrandner, VP Global Business Management Textiles, added, “Controlled fiber variation allows new opportunities for yarns and fabrics previously unattainable with Lyocell. Early market feedback shows strong potential for product differentiation, across both apparel and home textiles.”
