technotrans Launches FuzzyControl for Smarter Injection Moulding

A self-optimising controller redefining stability and efficiency in plastics processing
technotrans’ new FuzzyControl system brings intelligent, self-adjusting temperature management to injection moulding, ensuring higher quality, less scrap, and improved energy efficiency.
technotrans has unveiled a new innovation in precision temperature control for plastics processing with the launch of its intelligent FuzzyControl controller. This next-generation system is designed to deliver optimal process stability by automatically adapting to changing conditions in injection moulding environments. Unlike traditional PID (proportional–integral–derivative) controllers, FuzzyControl continuously adjusts itself, ensuring uniform product quality, lower scrap rates, and reduced energy usage.
“FuzzyControl is engineered to match the evolving requirements of customers in plastics processing,” said Nicolai Küls, Managing Director of technotrans solutions GmbH. “The controller anticipates process needs, stabilizes operations, and boosts both economic and environmental performance.”
Precise temperature regulation plays a decisive role in producing high-quality injection-moulded components. However, classic PID controllers often struggle under complex scenarios such as long circuit lines, restricted tool cross-sections, or fluctuating process parameters. These inconsistencies may lead to temperature deviations, resulting in defective parts and increased material waste.
The new FuzzyControl technology from technotrans addresses these challenges using fuzzy logic—a method inspired by human reasoning. The system continuously monitors the control loop, detects disturbances, and instantly adjusts control parameters to maintain the exact mould temperature. Operators no longer need to make manual corrections. The intelligent controller eliminates the typical temperature overshoot seen in PID systems, reduces reaction times, lowers energy usage, and decreases operational costs.
“The key strength of FuzzyControl is the combination of simplicity and high precision,” Küls added. “Operators only need to set the target temperature and activate the function. The controller takes over and ensures reliable, consistent quality, even under demanding conditions.”
By significantly reducing scrap, the technology contributes to resource efficiency and sustainability. Automated parameter optimisation also lowers labour requirements and increases equipment effectiveness—without requiring expert configuration knowledge.
