Al Keene, President of IMI (Inkjet Manufacturing Institute), announced the inclusion of a compelling industry blog by Luis Venâncio, titled “Why Inkjet Single-Pass Innovation Needs a New Standard,” in the April edition of e-Inkjetnews. This monthly newsletter, Inkjet Industry Trends & Innovations, reaches over 15,000 inkjet professionals globally who are part of the IMI Universe. The platform covers a broad range of inkjet technology segments, market insights, and application developments.

Keene emphasized that insightful blogs addressing real industry challenges and prospects contribute meaningfully to IMI’s mission of fostering a dynamic “inkjet community.” This community is built around stimulating interest in the rapidly evolving landscape of inkjet technology—including its markets, events, and opportunities—ultimately driving value for all stakeholders in the industry.

Keene encouraged professionals across the inkjet sector to take part in this initiative to amplify industry collaboration and knowledge sharing.

About the Author:

Luis Venâncio, a seasoned Technology Development Leader in industrial inkjet printing, is based in Brazil. With extensive experience spanning visual communication, commercial printing, and metal packaging, his areas of expertise include color management, prepress automation, inkjet production, and coating development. He is currently spearheading a platform-based approach aimed at scalable single-pass digital printing.

In his blog, Venâncio reflects on the current status of digital printing in industrial applications, noting its transition from a novel approach to a proven manufacturing solution that delivers speed, flexibility, and reduced lead times. However, he observes that in high-throughput environments, particularly those relying on single-pass inkjet systems, critical limitations still hinder its full adoption.

Drawing from over 25 years of hands-on experience—from operating equipment and managing color workflows to collaborating on coating innovations—Venâncio argues that progress won’t come from launching more machinery. Instead, the inkjet industry must focus on establishing a new production standard that integrates technologies and processes more holistically.
