Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Textiles and Guidance Tamil Nadu, Government of Tamil Nadu, to introduce the Techtextil India Summit in Coimbatore. The agreement, signed on 25 November 2025 in Coimbatore, marks the formal launch of the summit, which will be held on 26–27 November 2026 at CODISSIA, Coimbatore, with the objective of strengthening the State’s position in India’s growing technical textiles ecosystem.

Under the MoU, Coimbatore will host the Tamil Nadu edition of the Techtextil India Summit every alternate year, beginning in 2026. The initiative is designed to function as a knowledge-sharing platform, bringing together industry experts, technology providers, policymakers, and researchers to support the expansion of technical textiles across the region.

As part of the long-term collaboration, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India will conceptualise, curate, and deliver five editions of the Techtextil India Summit in Tamil Nadu over the coming decades. The partnership extends the reach of Techtextil India, the country’s established B2B exhibition for technical textiles, nonwovens, and composites, and part of the globally recognised Techtextil brand, into one of India’s most significant textile and apparel hubs.

The MoU signing took place in the presence of Thiru. M K Stalin, Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, during the TN Rising Investment Summit. The collaboration reflects the State’s policy-driven approach to strengthening its technical textiles value chain and expanding high-value manufacturing capabilities.

Commenting on the development, Smt. R. Lalitha, IAS, Director of Textiles, Department of Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu, noted that the State’s established textile base, combined with structured knowledge exchange, could enable manufacturers and entrepreneurs to engage with advanced technical textile innovations and adopt global best practices.

Mr. Winston Pereira, Executive Director, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd, highlighted Tamil Nadu’s proactive role in supporting technical textiles through infrastructure development and policy initiatives. He noted that the introduction of the Techtextil brand in Coimbatore would facilitate global industry dialogue and support the State’s transition from its strengths in spinning and knitwear into higher-value technical textile segments.

With policy-level backing from the Government of Tamil Nadu, the Techtextil India Summit is expected to strengthen industry–academia collaboration, encourage participation from MSMEs, and attract international stakeholders. The first two editions of the summit will be organised in a high-level conference and exhibition (confex) format, with plans to evolve into a full-scale trade fair from the third edition onward.

The Coimbatore summit will engage a broad range of stakeholders across the State, including MSMEs, research institutions, universities, and sectoral bodies such as SIDCO, TIDCO, TANSIDCO, SITRA, PSG Tech, and Anna University. The initiative aims to create a structured platform for collaboration, innovation, and policy-aligned growth within the technical textiles sector.

Techtextil India and Techtextil India Summit are part of Messe Frankfurt’s Texpertise Network, which spans the entire textile value chain, from research and development to technical textiles and processing technologies. The global network connects more than 500,000 industry participants through trade fairs and knowledge platforms, with over 60 international textile trade fairs held across 13 countries.
