Syre Appoints Tim King as CEO, Succeeding Dennis Nobelius

The textile-to-textile recycling company will focus on advancing a scalable, capital-efficient pathway to circular polyester production under its new leadership.

Syre, a textile impact company focused on scaling textile-to-textile recycling, has appointed Tim King as its new Chief Executive Officer. King, who currently serves as the company’s Chief Operating Officer, will lead its next phase of development, drawing on his experience in industrial development, operational leadership and strategy execution.

Leadership Change at Syre

Founded in 2023, Syre has established a business platform supported by commercial agreements, industrial partnerships and investors. The company’s next phase will focus on building on this foundation and advancing its industrial operations.

King has led Syre’s industrial development and strategy execution since joining the company in its early stages. Before Syre, he held leadership positions across multiple companies, industries and geographies, including McKinsey & Company, VP Operations at Polygon, VP Production at SF Studios, and Director for a Gates Foundation development project.

Commenting on his appointment, Tim King said: “We have built a strong foundation, and our focus is to continue turning that into an industrial reality”

He added: “I am excited to take on this responsibility and privileged to be working with an exceptional team, supportive customers, and leading partners. Syre’s mission is important for the planet, and we are committed to navigating a challenging market to make circularity a reality at scale”.

Board Cites Industrial and Operational Experience

Susanna Campbell, Chair of the Board of Syre, said the appointment followed a thorough selection process and reflected King's experience and understanding of the business.

“The Board has after a thorough process appointed him to lead Syre moving ahead, because we believe his experience, understanding of the business, and operational leadership are the right fit for what we need to achieve.”

Campbell also highlighted King's contribution to developing the company's capabilities and preparing it for its next stage.

“Tim has been instrumental in building Syre’s capabilities and preparing the company for the next phase of its development,” says Susanna Campbell, Chair of the Board of Syre.

Focus on Circular Polyester Production

Syre said its mission remains unchanged following the leadership transition. The company will continue working with customers and partners to develop a competitive, scalable and capital-efficient pathway to circular polyester production.

The existing leadership team will remain in place, while resources and capabilities will increasingly focus on the priorities for the company's next phase.

Dennis Nobelius to Leave Syre

Dennis Nobelius has decided to leave Syre after serving as CEO for more than three years to pursue opportunities in another industry.

Campbell acknowledged his contribution to the company's development, including team building, partnerships and establishing the foundation for its next phase.

“Dennis has been an important part of Syre’s journey from start-up to industrial scale-up – building the team, partnerships, and foundation for the company’s next phase. We thank him for everything he has contributed to Syre and wish him all the best for what comes next” says Susanna Campbell, Chair of the Board of Syre.
