SVPISTM Receives National Sustainability Award and Showcases Kasturi Fashion Collection at Bharat Tex 2026

Institute honoured at the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards 2026 while presenting the ‘Kasturi Fashion Showcase – From Farm to Fashion’ and earning recognition at Sanrachna 2026.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPISTM), Coimbatore, received the "Best Academic Institution – Educational Contribution to Textile and Clothing Sustainability" award at the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards 2026, held during Bharat Tex 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

The institute was also part of the event through its "Kasturi Fashion Showcase – From Farm to Fashion", while one of its students received a Special Recognition Award at Sanrachna 2026 for innovation in nonwoven product development.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPISTM), Coimbatore, was presented with the "Best Academic Institution – Educational Contribution to Textile and Clothing Sustainability" award at the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards 2026, organised during Bharat Tex 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Dr. Biswaranjan Ghosh, Director, SVPISTM, received the award from Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Textiles, Shri Pabitra Margherita, in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Textiles, global industry leaders and international delegates.

The award recognises SVPISTM's contribution to textile education through industry-oriented academic programmes, sustainability-focused research, innovation, skill development and collaboration with the textile and apparel industry.

As part of Bharat Tex 2026, SVPISTM also presented the "Kasturi Fashion Showcase – From Farm to Fashion." The showcase highlighted the journey of Kasturi Cotton, India's premium branded cotton, from cultivation to finished fashion products. It demonstrated the integration of sustainable agriculture, textile processing, apparel design and value-added manufacturing while focusing on innovation, circularity and sustainable fashion.

The fashion presentation was attended by Hon’ble Union Minister for Textiles Shri Giriraj Singh, who lauded the creativity and dedication of the students who presented the sustainable fashion show.

According to the institute, the showcase attracted participation and appreciation from Union Ministers, policymakers, international buyers, textile manufacturers, researchers and fashion professionals attending Bharat Tex 2026.

SVPISTM also recorded another achievement during the event as S. Harish, a III BBA student of the institute, received the Special Recognition Award in the Low-Cost Product Development category at Sanrachna 2026 for his contribution to nonwoven product development.

The institute stated that the recognition at the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards, the presentation of the Kasturi Fashion Showcase and the student achievement at Sanrachna 2026 reflect its continued engagement in textile education, innovation and sustainability initiatives.
