Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited announced the implementation of advanced life cycle assessment and product transparency tools, including Digital Product Passports (DPPs) for selected products. The initiative is aimed at improving environmental impact measurement and supporting data-driven sustainability planning across the organisation.

Sutlej Textiles and Industries Limited has introduced Digital Product Passports as part of its sustainability measurement and decision-making framework. The company has deployed life cycle assessment (LCA) and product transparency tools to enable more structured evaluation of environmental impacts and to support data-led action planning.

Under this programme, Sutlej has developed Digital Product Passports that consolidate key product information such as material composition, manufacturing location, environmental impact indicators and sustainability attributes. These passports are designed to improve traceability and provide verified environmental data to customers and other stakeholders seeking detailed sustainability information.

Commenting on the engagement, Ashish Kumar said, “Sustainability is a strategic enabler at Sutlej, essential for long-term competitiveness, resilience, and value creation. We are embedding a robust, data-led framework to move beyond intent, transforming sustainability into a driver of innovation and enduring value.

GreenStitch is a key partner in this journey, delivering credible methodologies and intuitive digital tools. Through AI-powered LCA, GHG accounting, and Digital Product Passports, we now have clear visibility into product-level environmental footprints.

This empowers us to make smarter decisions, target high-impact reductions, increase stakeholder transparency, and accelerate our shift to truly sustainable manufacturing.”

With the deployment of these tools, Sutlej has created a centralised and standardised sustainability data system to support structured product-level Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) accounting. Phase 1 of the initiative covers LCAs for selected yarn and fabric product categories, along with monthly tracking of environmental impact. The resulting data will be used to guide product sustainability improvements.

By digitising processes for data collection, validation and impact calculation, the company has enhanced data accuracy and consistency, simplified reporting, and strengthened readiness for buyer disclosures, audits and regulatory requirements. Product-level impact information is now used to support buyer-specific carbon disclosures, substantiate sustainability claims and respond to market and regulatory expectations.

Improved visibility into operational impact areas is also enabling Sutlej’s sustainability and operations teams to prioritise footprint reduction initiatives and support informed decisions related to products and processes.

Sutlej collaborated with sustainability intelligence platform GreenStitch for the development and execution of the digital framework, including the Digital Product Passports. GreenStitch’s tools were used to support product-level impact measurement and reporting across Sutlej’s value chain.

Narendra Makwana said, “Sutlej is among the front-runners in operationalising sustainability at scale, with a clear focus on translating data into business-relevant action. Their adoption of product-level LCA and structured sustainability measurement shows strong leadership in moving from compliance to value creation.

We are excited to work with a partner that is embedding sustainability into core manufacturing decisions and setting a benchmark for the industry.”

The initiative aligns with Sutlej’s existing sustainability priorities, which include regulatory compliance, buyer-driven standards, operational efficiency and climate-related actions such as renewable energy use and circular material integration. The company plans to expand supplier engagement and apply LCA findings to support decarbonisation planning, product and process redesign, and regulatory preparedness.
