SusCrunch 2025 Ignites Climate Action in Bengaluru

Held on July 19 and hosted by The Sustainability Mafia, this year’s SusCrunch gathered a sold-out audience of over 400 climate founders, corporate executives, investors, and ecosystem enablers. The gathering focused not just on dialogue, but on actionable strategies aimed at scaling effective climate solutions.
The event was crafted as an energetic, problem-solving space rather than a standard conference, aiming to drive hands-on collaboration across key climate sectors.
"SusCrunch this year was surreal. I’ve never been in a room more electrifying. It wasn’t just an event; it felt like a carnival. For many working in the climate space, the journey can feel isolating. But this reminded us that we’re not alone, and reaffirmed the power of shared values, the strength of community, and the magic that happens when generosity drives collaboration. That shared mindset of ‘Give > Get’ is what makes this movement unstoppable," shared Anirudh Gupta, Director at The Sustainability Mafia & Founder of Climes.
Throughout the day, attendees worked across domains such as the energy transition, water systems, circular economy, agriculture, and climate data, engaging in sessions that yielded real solutions and next steps.
At the heart of SusCrunch was the Builder Room, a vibrant hub where 24 selected founders from fields like alternative bio-materials, renewable energy, circularity, and climate finance addressed live business challenges. They engaged directly with corporate decision-makers and investors, fostering immediate and practical partnerships.
Honest Dialogue, Tangible Solutions
The Climate Sitdowns provided another dynamic element—candid conversations with leading voices like Mirik Gogri and Manoj Meena, focusing on the real-world challenges of building climate ventures in India, including regulatory issues and funding limitations.
Purposeful Pitching
Excitement peaked with the SusVentures Big Pi Grant Pitch Finale, where five early-stage startups showcased breakthrough technologies, from waste-to-energy solutions to AI-based biosensors. The winning venture was awarded a ₹31.4 lakh grant, co-sponsored by PIEDS, the incubation wing of BITS Pilani.
Notable innovations included:
- A scalable platform converting plastic and biomass waste into standardized pyrolysis oil.
- A biotech startup utilizing engineered microbes and AI for high-precision detection of pollutants, drug residues, and pathogens.
Sachin Arya, CEO of Incubation and Entrepreneurship at BITS Pilani, commented, “The Sustainability Venture Creation program is the most creative and engrossing 3 course credits you can earn at BITS Pilani. SusVentures program affirms our alignment to SusMafia’s vision of supporting and scaling sustainability ventures. Together, we aim to not only incubate bold ideas but also shape ventures that create long-term climate impact for India and the world.”
Spotlight on India’s Climate Future
A major unveiling during the event was the India Climate Opportunity Map, a curated guide featuring 25 urgent and investible startups with disruptive solutions tailored for the Indian climate context.
SusCrunch 2025 was a powerful testament to India’s growing climate innovation ecosystem—rich in collaboration, urgency, and momentum. As conversations carried on informally after sessions, one message rang clear: this is only the beginning, with the real work happening beyond the room.
