The Southern India Mills’ Association (SIMA) organised its first Texfair Exhibition during August 23–27, 2001, to support manufacturers of textile machinery, accessories, spares, equipment, utilities and service providers, most of whom are MSMEs. SIMA Texfair 2001 recorded participation from 186 exhibitors and attracted around 30,000 visitors. Over the years, the exhibition has gained recognition among both user industries and manufacturers of textile machinery, accessories and spares, and is normally conducted once every two years.

In a press release issued today, Mr. Durai Palanisamy, Chairman, SIMA, stated that SIMA Texfair 2026, the 15th edition of the series, will be conducted from 6–9 March 2026 at the CODISSIA Trade Fair Complex, Avinashi Road, Coimbatore. He said the event has attracted 240 exhibitors who will present their innovations, services, machines and spares during the four-day exhibition. According to him, exhibitors are mainly from Coimbatore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Bangalore, along with participants from Switzerland, Germany, Italy, China and Egypt, and the event is expected to draw one lakh visitors.

Mr. Durai Palanisamy said the exhibition will be inaugurated by Mr. P R Venketrama Raja, Chairman, Ramco Group. The inaugural function will be presided over by Mr. Ashwin Chandran, Chairman, CITI, and Mr. S. Suresh Babuji, Director, Ministry of MSME, will attend as Guest of Honour. He added that Mr. Prasanth Agarwal, Co-founder and Joint Managing Director, will deliver the keynote address covering the current and international textile scenario, market opportunities following the recently concluded US, UK and other FTAs, and strategies for investment in the textile industry aimed at achieving double-digit growth.

The SIMA Chairman stated that the conclusion of Free Trade Agreements with the United States, European Union and United Kingdom, together with measures such as rationalisation of GST on man-made fibre and its products, withdrawal of Quality Control Orders, abolition of Anti-Dumping Duty on man-made fibre and its raw materials, the announcement of a Mission for Cotton Productivity, and the introduction of five new textile policy initiatives in the Union Budget 2026–27, would strengthen the sector. He said these developments would help the industry recover, accelerate growth and attract investments. He also noted that the SIMA Texfair platform would assist participants in identifying suitable investments and suppliers.

Mr. Durai Palanisamy further stated that SIMA has decided to organise a new event titled “SIMA AI Tex Summit” every six months to support adoption of artificial intelligence and automation in the textile industry. The first SIMA AI Tex Summit will be held from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm at the exhibition venue on Friday, 6 March 2026. The theme of the inaugural summit is “Transforming Textile Manufacturing through Automation,” with sub-themes including “Leveraging Data and AI Tech for Overall Excellence,” “Greenback Forex Hedging Tool,” “Digital & Operational Automation in Textile Enterprises,” and “AI-Driven Mill Intelligence – From Data to Decisions in Spinning Production.” He invited Managing Directors and Directors of textile manufacturing units to register and gain insights into automation for improved efficiency and competitiveness.

He said the summit will discuss automation case studies from the textile sector, enabling manufacturers to adopt proven models to enhance productivity, reduce production costs and lead time, and improve overall competitiveness.

According to the SIMA Chairman, SIMA Texfair 2026 will be open from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm on all four days, with free entry for business visitors. The organising committee has extended invitations to all stakeholders to attend the event.
