SIMA CD & RA Re-elects Office-bearers for Third Consecutive Term
Dr. S.K. Sundararaman, Mr. Durai Palanisamy and Mr. S. Krishnakumar continue in key leadership positions for 2026–27
The 51st Annual General Meeting of SIMA Cotton Development & Research Association (SIMA CD & RA) was held at the SIMA premises in Coimbatore on 22nd September 2026. Following the AGM, the first Council Meeting of SIMA CD & RA was held, where the association unanimously re-elected its office-bearers for the 2026–27 term.
Dr. S.K. Sundararaman, Managing Director, Shiva Texyarn Limited, Coimbatore, was unanimously re-elected as Chairman. Mr. Durai Palanisamy, Executive Director, Pallava Textiles P Limited, Erode, was re-elected as Deputy Chairman, while Mr. S. Krishnakumar, Managing Director, Sulochana Cotton Spg Mills P Ltd., Tiruppur, was re-elected as Vice-Chairman.
Dr. S.K. Sundararaman Re-elected Chairman
Dr. S.K. Sundararaman holds an MBBS Degree and a Masters in Business Management from Cambridge University, U.K. He is associated with the fields of technical textiles and technical education in India.
He is the Managing Trustee of the Firebird Institute of Research & Management and served as Chairman of The Southern India Mills’ Association, Coimbatore from 2023 to 2025.
Dr. Sundararaman has also served as Chairman of CII, Coimbatore, Educational Convenor of CII, Tamil Nadu, and Chairman of the Indian Technical Textile Association. He has been a member of various business forums at the national level.
Durai Palanisamy Continues as Deputy Chairman
Mr. Durai Palanisamy, Executive Director, Pallava Textiles P Limited, Erode, has been unanimously re-elected as Deputy Chairman for 2026–27.
He holds an MBA in International Business from Southern New Hampshire University and a Bachelor of Technology in Textile Technology from PSG College of Technology.
Mr. Palanisamy is the Vice-President of CII, Erode Zone and is also a member of the Committee of Administration of Manmade and Technical Textiles Export Promotion Council (MATEXIL). He currently serves as the Chairman of The Southern India Mills’ Association, Coimbatore.
S. Krishnakumar Re-elected Vice-Chairman
Mr. S. Krishnakumar, Managing Director, Sulochana Cotton Spg Mills P Ltd., Tiruppur, has been unanimously re-elected as Vice-Chairman for 2026–27.
He holds a B.A. in Psychology from P.S.G. Arts College, Coimbatore and entered the business in the late 80s.
Mr. Krishnakumar is involved in various CSR activities. His organisation has planted 1.5 million trees in Tirupur, including 30,000 trees within the mill premises.
He also serves as the Deputy Chairman of The Southern India Mills’ Association, Coimbatore.
