Conference to address biomass integration, FOAK projects, and market deployment

The International Conference on Bioenergy & Bioeconomy 2026 is scheduled to be held from October 28–30, 2026, at the University of Seville in Seville, Spain. The event is organized in collaboration with the Institute for Biorefinery Research and will focus on advancing bioenergy and bioeconomy systems.

Building on the inaugural edition held in Lisbon, the 2026 conference will continue discussions on scaling sustainable bio-based solutions and supporting their transition to commercial markets.

IBBC 2026 will bring together stakeholders from across the bioenergy and bioeconomy value chain to examine developments in sustainable energy systems and industrial applications. The conference will place emphasis on commercialization pathways, first-of-a-kind (FOAK) projects, and strategies for deploying bio-based technologies at scale.

Key discussions during the event will include the integration of sustainable biomass with advanced biorefineries, as well as their role in supporting hydrogen systems, Power-to-X technologies, and regional development frameworks. The programme is expected to include plenary sessions, technical presentations, and industry-led discussions over three days.

The conference is designed for a wide range of participants, including investors, project developers, plant operators, and technology providers involved in bioenergy, biogas, biomethane, and advanced biofuels. It also targets companies in energy, transport, and industrial sectors seeking alternatives aligned with sustainability goals. In addition, stakeholders from agri-food, forestry, and waste management sectors, along with policymakers, regulators, researchers, and innovation agencies, are expected to attend.

The inaugural IBBC 2025 in Lisbon recorded participation from over 150 attendees and featured multiple sessions and networking formats. The upcoming edition in Seville will continue to offer structured engagement opportunities for collaboration across sectors.

IBBC 2026 will also feature an integrated Conference & Expo model, providing organizations with opportunities to participate as sponsors or exhibitors. Sponsorship options include Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze tiers, each offering defined branding presence, delegate access, and engagement opportunities. Additional targeted sponsorships such as Gala Dinner, Luncheon, Session, and Technology sponsorships are also available.

Participants will have the option to attend either on-site or online. On-site attendees will have access to all sessions, networking activities, Expo Zone, and conference services, while online participants can join selected sessions through live streaming and access available presentations post-event.

The conference is also open for topic proposals and abstract submissions. Contributors can propose thematic sessions, workshops, and panels or submit research aligned with the conference themes. Selected contributions will be incorporated into the final programme by the Scientific Committee.

IBBC 2026 will serve as a platform for discussing the role of bioenergy and the bioeconomy in addressing energy security, industrial competitiveness, and climate-related challenges through collaborative and technology-driven approaches.
