SDC Announces New Editorial Leadership for Coloration Technology Journal

The Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) has appointed a new editorial leadership team for Coloration Technology, introducing a dual-editor structure as part of its next phase of development.

The appointments follow an international recruitment process carried out in collaboration with Wiley. Under the new structure, Dr Mohammad Tajul Islam will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief, while Prof Dr Roshan Paul will take on the position of Associate Editor starting from April 2026.

Coloration Technology has been published in partnership with Wiley since 1999 and traces its origins to 1884, when it was first issued as the Journal of the Society of Dyers and Colourists (JSDC).

Andrew Towns, who has served as Editor-in-Chief since 2011, will step down after more than a decade in the role. During his tenure, the journal recorded continued growth in its Impact Factor, reaching its highest level to date.

Dr Graham Clayton, CEO of the SDC, said: “Appointing two editors is a forward-looking decision that reflects both the scale of the opportunity ahead and the ambition we have for the journal. Taj and Roshan bring complementary strengths, international networks and deep expertise, which will be instrumental in shaping the next chapter of Coloration Technology.”

Dr Mohammad Tajul Islam, an Associate Professor at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology in Bangladesh, has been a member of the journal’s Editorial Panel since 2020. He is also involved in the SDC Bangladesh Region Committee and other professional bodies.

Commenting on his appointment, Dr Islam said: “It’s a privilege to take on this role and build on the excellent work already achieved. We’re focused on expanding the journal’s global reach and continuing to enhance its relevance to both academia and industry.”

Prof Dr Roshan Paul, based at the University of Beira Interior in Portugal, has served on the journal’s Editorial Panel since 2008 and has an international background in textile science.

Prof Paul added: “I am delighted to step into this role at such an important time for the journal. Having been involved with Coloration Technology for many years, I am excited to work alongside Dr Islam to further strengthen its international profile and academic excellence, while supporting the next generation of research in the field.”

The dual-editor model reflects the journal’s broader international positioning. With editorial leadership based in Europe and Asia, the publication aims to increase engagement with global research communities and related conferences.
