Rhenus 4PL Boosts Looper’s Circular Textile Logistics

Looper Textile Co., the joint venture formed by REMONDIS and H&M Group, is driving large-scale textile reuse and recycling with the help of Rhenus 4PL Solutions GmbH. Looper manages the collection and sorting of up to 150 million garments annually, aiming to maximize resource use through reuse and recycling. As REMONDIS’ logistics partner, Rhenus 4PL is delivering centralized coordination, real-time logistics tracking, and digital efficiency using a customized 4PL Control Tower.

REMONDIS’ Head of Logistics, Simon Bodmer, emphasized that textiles are one of the largest material flows globally and highlighted the need for digital logistics expertise to manage volumes efficiently. He credited their partnership with Rhenus and digital tools as key enablers.

At the core of Rhenus’ contribution is its 4PL Control Tower, a real-time digital logistics hub that coordinates all logistics activities and offers end-to-end transparency for circular operations. Chris Gerfertz, Managing Global Director at Rhenus 4PL Solutions, stated, “Our 4PL Control Tower creates centralized visibility for all logistics operations—crucial to achieving Looper’s reuse and recycling goals.”

In 2024, Looper sorted more than 72 million garments across facilities in Germany and Poland, achieving a 65% reuse rate and 25% recycling rate, with less than 10% sent to responsible disposal. Its growing impact is backed by innovative sorting methods, such as near-infrared and optical sensors, enabling precision for textile-to-textile recycling.

Through this collaboration, REMONDIS, Rhenus, and H&M Group are combining recycling and logistics expertise under the Rethmann Group umbrella to build a sustainable, circular ecosystem for textiles.
