The Retailers Association of India (RAI), in its 63rd Retail Business Survey, has reported an 8% increase in retail sales for June 2025 compared to the same month in 2024. The findings underscore ongoing momentum in India’s retail sector, with regional and category-wise growth trends shaping the broader landscape.

Kumar Rajagopalan, CEO of RAI, stated, “Retail sales grew by 7% in May and 8% in June, following nearly a year of 4–5% year-on-year growth. The festive season begins at the end of August, which may influence how demand evolves. Retailers have a sharp focus on the way consumers are buying non-discretionary goods. Non-discretionary spending creates hope for the consumption market.”

Regionally, West India led with a 10% YoY sales increase, followed by North India at 9%, South India at 7%, and East India at 4%.

In terms of product categories, both apparel and sporting goods showed the highest growth at 10% each. Consumer durables & electronics (CDIT), jewellery, and QSR (Quick Service Restaurants) followed closely, each with a 9% rise in sales.
