The Textile Institute World Conference (TIWC) 2025, now in its 93rd edition, is set to take place in the scenic city of Porto, Portugal, from October 7 to 10, at the Porto Palácio Hotel and Spa. Themed “Fibre to Future – Transforming Fashion and Textiles through Sustainability,” this globally recognized event will spotlight the critical transformation of the textile industry driven by sustainability and digital innovation.

This year’s conference aims to delve deep into how modern technologies and sustainable practices are redefining every stage of the textile lifecycle — from raw fibre production and fabric processing to consumer behavior and end-of-life solutions. Over four days, a robust programme of keynote addresses, panel discussions, and research presentations will offer a comprehensive look at the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.

Industry leaders, academic researchers, and policymakers will gather to share their expertise and present practical strategies aimed at reducing the industry’s environmental footprint. Topics will include waste reduction, circular design, carbon neutrality, digital transparency, and climate-aligned manufacturing, offering attendees a roadmap to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape.

Stephanie Dick, CEO of the Textile Institute, emphasized the importance of this year’s event in promoting synergy between academia and the industry. “The goal of TIWC is to create a shared platform that facilitates collaboration toward a digital and sustainable future for textiles,” she stated. Notably, this is the first year the conference is hosted by a private company — AQUITEX, a Portuguese pioneer in textile chemicals and auxiliaries, further highlighting the industry's growing hands-on involvement in steering sustainability efforts.

Delegates will not only gain access to cutting-edge knowledge but also become active contributors to shaping the next chapter of global textile practices. Full conference details, including speaker line-ups and session topics, will be released soon. Those requiring visa assistance will be provided with official invitation letters upon request.

For additional information, attendees are encouraged to contact the Textile Institute's Senior Events Coordinator, Robyn Ingham, at ringham@textileinst.org.uk.
